Dr Gopi Elango

Dr Gopi Elango (MBBS;Grad Dip-Anatomy Dissection;FRACS) is a highly skilled General Surgeon with dual subspecialty training in Head & Neck Surgery and Surgical Oncology.

He has extensive expertise in managing complex oncological and advanced surgical cases, with a strong commitment to patient-centred care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based surgical practice. His approach integrates precision surgery with cutting-edge techniques, ensuring the best possible outcomes for his patients.

Dr Elango completed his medical degree at the University of Newcastle and has over a decade of surgical experience across Canberra and regional hospitals. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery in 2021 before undertaking highly specialised fellowship training in Head & Neck Surgery and Surgical Oncology at Westmead Hospital (2023-2025), one of Australia’s leading centres for head & neck and surgical oncology.

With a strong academic and research background, Dr. Elango is actively involved in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) for Head & Neck, Endocrine, Melanoma,
and Sarcoma cases, contributing to advancements in surgical oncology.

His special interests are: surgical oncology (Melanoma & skin cancer treatment, Lipomas and other subcutaneous lumps, soft tissue tumours, lymph node biopsies, sarcoma); Head and Neck (thyroid & parathyroid disease, neck lumps, salivary gland surgery, oral cavity lesions, head and neck cancers; General Surgery( Laparoscopic surgeries-Gallbladder, appendix, hernias, abdominal wall, inguinal, femoral & incisional hernia, pilonidal sinus).

As an active mentor for medical students at the Australian National University (ANU), he is dedicated to medical education and fostering the next generation of surgeons.
